Sola Scriptura: Protestant Foundations By Greg Price, John Calvin, the Reformed Presbytery In Scotland, the Reformed Presbytery In North America (RPNA) and W.J. McKnight (Free MP3s, Videos and Books)

Sola Scriptura, Protestant Teaching About the Bible, God's Word by Greg Price (Free MP3)

Covenanter Terms of Communion (1 of 19): The Word of God (1/2) by Greg Price (Free MP3)

Explains and defends the first term of communion, which is "An acknowledgement of the Old and New Testament to be the Word of God, and the alone infallible rule of faith and practice." Covers the attributes of Scripture, including the necessity, inspiration, authority, sufficiency, perspicuity, perpetuity, etc. of the Word of God. Also deals with principles of interpretation (hermeneutics) and how we know that God's Word is His Word, and thus can be trusted as the absolute, inerrant, infallible and inspired truth. Touches on higher criticism and the debate over Bible versions, upholding the Textus Receptus (i.e. the ecclesiastical or received text) and the King James Version. A fine defense of Sola Scriptura which also touches on how "extra-biblical" terms of communion are not only required by Scripture itself, but are an inescapable necessity. Price is careful to point out the difference between the primary infallible standard of Scripture and those uninspired subordinate standards which nevertheless bind the conscience whenever they say the same thing as Scripture. A great introduction to God's Word that comes with our highest recommendation.

Covenanter Terms of Communion (2 of 19): The Word of God (2/2) by Greg Price (Free MP3)

Covenanter Terms of Communion By Greg Price (19 Free MP3s)

This set explains the six "Terms of Ministerial and Christian Communion in the Reformed Presbyterian Church." These terms represent a high water mark concerning Covenanted Reformation attainments thus far in history. They are thoroughly Scriptural (as this set proves) and should be adopted by all Churches as the minimum standard by which people are admitted to the Lord's Supper.

Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing. - Philippians 3:16 (KJV)

An Explanation and Defence of the Terms of Communion, Adopted by the Community of Dissenters by the Reformed Presbytery (4 Free MP3s)

Reformed Presbytery's Explanation and Defence of the Terms of Communion (Free Online Text)

Excerpt: The propriety of explicit terms of admission to the privileges of the Christian Church will also appear, by turning our attention to the following, and such like very solemn and divinely inspired injunctions. I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind, and in the same judgment. Only let your conversation be as it becometh the Gospel of Christ; that, whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the Gospel." From the express words of the Holy Spirit in these passages, it is abundantly plain that the union positively required consists not merely in worshipping together, within the same walls, or in sitting down together at the same holy table of the Lord. It evidently comprehends a union in sentiment, and in the open profession of the truth as it is in Jesus. They must "be perfectly joined together in the same mind, and must speak the same things;" but in every period of the church false doctrines have actually been propagated-misunderstandings and divisions have taken place. How error, which the adversaries of truth have taught and propagated, in their own language, and in their own way, can be either consistently or successfully refuted, and the opposite truths fairly stated, so as to form a proper contrast, unless we meet our opponents on their own ground, and also use human language in exhibiting a faithful testimony for the truth, it is not easy to see. If we should simply refer them to the Scriptures without any reasoning on the subject, they would reckon themselves secure in the possession of their erroneous opinions. Nor is it less difficult to discern how divisions can be properly prevented, or misunderstandings removed, without clearly stating and explaining our sentiments. We cannot otherwise consistently walk together as those who are agreed, "Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace." And firmly believing "That there is one body, and one Spirit, even as we are called in one hope of our calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism." It is purely in subserviency to this Scriptural union that we insist on having distinct terms of communion.

In Defense of Close Communion, Classic Presbyterian Reformed Teaching About the Lord's Supper By W.J. McKnight (Free MP3)

Helpful in regard to the general subject of the Scriptural propriety of a close communion and explicit, open, honest, and biblical terms for fencing the table of the Lord -- and how this is fully in accord with Sola Scriptura rightly understood.

John Calvin, Close Communion, Covenanting and the Coming Reformation (Covenanted Reformation) by Dr. Reg Barrow (Free Online Article)

Helps demonstrate how John Calvin's understanding of sola Scriptura necessitates terms of communion that are in agreement with Scripture, close communion and covenanting -- if we are to be faithful to Scripture and the classic Protestant view of sola Scriptura.

Considering that the Arminian scheme includes some of the most pernicious errors of Popery, how reproachful it is to the memory of Calvin, to call such a base proposal, his plan revived and prosecuted? Did Mr. Calvin ever speak of independent churches in the one church of Christ? Or of promoting union, by holding sacramental communion with the professed teachers of false doctrine, as every Arminian teacher is, or with the professed defenders of superstition in the worship of God? By no means. - Alexander and Rufus; or a Series of Dialogues on Church Communion, in Two Parts by John Anderson (1862), emphases added.

Pastor Greg L. Price Reviews and Recommends
the Puritan Hard Drive

Pastor Greg L. Price

I was one of those who had profited much from using the plethora of out-of-print Reformation materials offered by Still Waters Revival Books in the 62 CDs (Puritan CDs and Reformation CDs) for a number of years in  my ministry -- works that I could only have found in select libraries (usually hundreds of miles away from my residence).

With the CDs, it took a little while to go to the index of each set, locate the documents I needed, and then find the correct CD. Of course, the time was always well spent in finding that particular document that I needed.

However, now that I have the Puritan Hard Drive, I am able to use my time much more efficiently in finding that particular document I need by quickly searching for it and finding it in a matter of seconds. It's like going from "dial up" to "high-speed" Internet!

And for all of those documents that have a font that are in block letters, I am able to simply cut and paste from the Puritan Hard Drive to my own document with ease.

Amazing surprises do come in small packages!

If you want to understand Reformed theology (i.e., the whole counsel of God) the Puritan Hard Drive is unsurpassed, outside the Bible itself. The First and Second Reformations gave us the most faithful Scriptural teaching and preaching since the time of the Apostles, and there is no other resource, outside Scripture itself, where you can find so much of God's truth as in the Puritan Hard Drive.

May the Lord continue to use this most profitable tool to promote a Third Reformation that encompasses the whole world (Isaiah 2:2-4)!
